Top 5 Reasons To Cherish Every Moment

Cherish means to “treat with affection and tenderness; hold dear; to keep fondly in mind; treasure; appreciate.”

There are a few things that I haven’t ever taken for granted and I have always cherished every moment of the experience. Some of my most cherished moments include all the time I’ve spent with my sweet redheaded niece, Brittany.

Overall, I have come up with the Top 5 Reasons To Cherish Every Moment. They can be applied to any person or situation and the main point is that cherishing moments should be a conscious effort you make each day. That is the best way to ensure that none of those cherished moments slip by unnoticed.

#5 Your life could end at any moment. – I’m not trying to be morbid or instill fear, but the fact is none of us know when we are going to die. Therefore, it is important that we don’t procrastinate cherishing every moment in our life.

#4 Life is a beautiful gift. – No amount of money can buy anyone another life. Therefore, life is a beautiful gift that we should cherish.

#3 Every moment is unique. – We get one life experience and only one shot at life. Whenever there is just one of something, the perceived value immediately sky rockets. Well, the value of life is priceless. No two lives are exactly the same because no two people are exactly the same. Every person is unique and since every minute of life is unique, we have the opportunity to cherish them all.

#2 At the end of your life, you don’t want to regret all the things you didn’t attempt or recognize. – Nothing hurts or stings worse than regret both for things we shouldn’t have done or things we should have done, but didn’t do. I’m sure you can think of a few times in your life that you regret and those experiences are usually never far from your mind.

#1 Life changes constantly. – Actually, life goes by so quickly that sometimes you don’t even notice all the changes that have been happening. Every minute of your life has a expiration date which is “Now!” Once a moment has passed, it is gone forever except in our memories. Cherishing moments as they happen will not only help you feel thankful for life, but also help you to have a more positive and happy outlook.

Sunny Saturday to you Red. Your niece Brittany was adorable. I love the red finger nail polish in her photos as a child. Awww and she has grown to be just lovely. You are fortunate that you were and are able to have spent so much time with her. I truly believe that the relationship between aunt and niece is almost as valuable as the one between mother and daughter. It’s the best backup plan we have..lol. As for cherishing moments, I have have to remind myself which moments to dwell on. Too frequently it’s the “wrong” ones. The woulda’, coulda’, shoulda’ ones. That’s a no-no. So thank you, now I have a handy dandy list to refer to when I must turn my thinking around…360 degrees. Not always, sometimes it’s just a 180…lol. I just have to add if I tried everything I wanted to, I would have an endless list of To Do’s and that would be in direct conflict with the list that aids in achieving Peace and Calm. Oh decisions, decisions..lol. Maybe best to hang on to the one thing at a time motto. If it doesn’t work out…toss it and cross it off “the list”. There we go, I can breathe again…lol. Thanks for helping me work that out. Take good care.

      Susanne,

Thank you. I do feel very lucky to have spent so much time with Brittany. We always say she was my first child before my first child because it really feels that way.

She loved having her fingernails painted and still does keep them painted most of the time – every color under the rainbow! 😉

I’m glad I gave you a list to help keep you on track. LOL I guess when I look at my blog stats in ten years, this post will be the one that has the most hits because of one IP address? LOL LOL

I hope you have a FANTASTIC DAY!

Thanks Skip! I love looking back at all the photos of the girls. Although I have a lot of pictures, especially considering it was before the digital era, I still wish I have one hundred times more!

Very well put. I’ve always said that no matter what your beliefs, we go around “THIS” life just once and you must embrace it. I don’t want to end my life with a bunch of “coulda, woulda, shoulda’s” and so I try to embrace everything that I can. Thanks for the post and the reminder to cherish what we have. I think I’ll go hug my kids now! 🙂

      Elyse,

You are so right! The “coulda, woulda, shoulda’s” are definitely something that can destroy a day!

Did you know that you are supposed to get 7 hugs a day?

For someone like me who is all thumbs at the computer this blog is amazing for lots of reasons. The photographs are always stunning; I don’t think anyone has more or better pictures than you. And there’s a new post almost every day – when do you have time to do anything else? I’m not complaining, I’m just impressed. And everything you say in the post is very true. It reminds me of Andrew Marvell:

‘And at my back I always hear,
    Time’s winged chariot hurrying near;
And yonder all before us lie,
    Deserts of vast eternity.’

Cheerful thought, but true all the same. I hope his young lady was impressed, and kind, don’t you?

THANK YOU SO MUCH TIM!!!! {{{hugssss}}} I’m so glad that you enjoy my blog! As far as having time…well…LOL I make time. Actually, I don’t sleep that much, I type fast, speed read and scatter myself a bit thin here and there. Don’t tell my mother!

I love that exert by Andrew Marvell. Thank you for posting it! It is so true…”yonder all before us lie.” It is so poetically descriptive of the future. It is my hope that we all have very happy experiences ahead.

I have a doc on my Kindle about redheads that I love since it reinforces my thoughts on the subject. Someone told me about it and it was so hard to find. I think eventually I found it through google. If you are interested, I will figure out how to get the doc or the link to you. It was someone’s doctoral dissertation. Not too long but too long to post on my blog.
