Judith Ann "Judy" Johnson, 78

LINCOLN, IL - Judith Ann "Judy" Johnson, 78, of Lincoln, passed away May 19, 2024 at Lincoln Memorial Hospital.Cremation rites have been accorded by Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at 11 AM Saturday, June 1st, 2024 at Zion Cemetery.Judy was born April 18, 1946, in Bloomington, IL., the daughter of Raven Daugherty and Doris (Thompson) Danner. She married James Edward "Jim" Johnson on June 20, 1964 in Lincoln, IL. He preceded her in death on February 7, 2011.She worked at Richland College and at Logan Correctional Center. Judy was a member of First Baptist Church in Lincoln, IL.Survivors include her children: Jami Beth Johnson, Jonni Renee (Charles) Bone; grandchildren: Brandon Becker, Brian (Alexis) Becker, Austin Leach, and Brittany Bone; four great-grandchildren; siblings: Doris Darlene Howard, Diana Pinkley, and Jill Danner; and two foster sisters. Several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive.She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jim Johnson, her foster parents Sid and Claire Kingsley, brother Jack Daugherty, brother Daniel Daugherty, and brother-in-law Carl Pinkley.

Jerry Lee “Bomber” Snyder, 77

MASON CITY, IL - Jerry Lee "Bomber” Snyder, 77, of Mason City, passed away at his home at 4:15 p.m., on Saturday, May 18, 2024.He was born January 10, 1947, in Mason City, to Paul "Babe” and Nellie (Tackman) Snyder.Mr. Snyder is survived by two children: Kevin (Mindy) Snyder and Colette (Lamar) Starcevic, both of Mason City; three grandchildren: Alisa (Chris Shawgo) Whittaker, Breanna (Chris Arroyo) Whittaker, and Elayna Snyder. Also surviving is one brother, Joe Snyder, of Mason City.He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Chub Snyder and one granddaughter.Mr. Snyder served in the US Army from 1966-1969. He was a die-hard Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, and Fighting Illini fan. He played travel softball for many years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially on his annual family trips. He also loved fishing with his mother at his cabin on Patterson Bay. He always enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandkids. He retired from Eaton/Cutler Hammer, in Lincoln after 43 years. He was a 1965 graduate of Mason City High School.Graveside services will be held at Mason City Cemetery, at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, May 25, 2024. Danny Fletcher will officiate. She married Chalmers ( Lee) Farnam on March 27, 1965. He preceded her in death on March 7, 2009.Donna was employed at Myers Industries for more than 30 years. She was a foster grandparent at Christian Child Care for several years. Family was everything to her. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Donna enjoyed sports and was an avid Green Bay Packers and Chicago Cubs fan. She enjoyed fishing with her husband and her grandson Josh.Survivors include her children: Eileen Jones and Brenda (Paul) Goodwin; grandchildren: Joshua Farnam, Matthew (Samantha) Kennett, Nicholas (Lyndsey) Shehorn, Lucas (Tasha) Jones, and Hope (Brandon) Duffey; great grandchildren: Noah Kennett, William Kennett, Gavin Shehorn, Benton Shehorn, and Avery Duffey; brother Richard (Gloria) Newby; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and her canine companions Buffy and Dolly.She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, daughter Diana Firkins, son Carl Farnam, sister Ruth Ann Stagnolia, brother Leland Newby, and canine companion Heidi.Memorial donations may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

She was employed at Lehn and Fink and then at Cravens Laundromat. She enjoyed Crocheting, knitting, being with her grandkids, and all of her family being together. She married Sherman West on March 16, 1972, in Lincoln.Joan is survived by her husband, Sherman; children, Kathy Sampson, Donna Powell, and Roy Curry; her brother, Keith (Vivian) Brakefield; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a great-great granddaughter.She was preceded in death by her parents; former spouse, Donald L. Curry; son, Steven Curry; brother, Dale (Marge) Grove; and sisters, Esther (Jim) Mounts and Evelyn (Bill) Hadley.Joan was a wonderful woman and loved by all who knew her. She was strong, filled with determination, and highly spirited, what many of her family members would refer to as possessing the "Grove grit”. In the early years of Joan’s life, she attended a one-room school up until the 8th grade, survived Polio with extended time spent in an Iron Lung.In addition to being a beloved wife and mother, Joan also wore many hats in the workforce, one of which included being a licensed welder. However, nothing compared to the time spent with the love of her life and forever teammate, "Shermie”. She loved spending time with him over the road, driving their semi-truck while getting the opportunity to visit every state as well as Canada. Joan was one of the first female drivers for her company and the recipient of a companywide safe driving award in 1984. Joan always said those years spent driving side by side with Shermie were her favorite, known as "Little Angel”, with "Little Diesel” on the CB radio. Joan and Sherman spent 53 amazing years together, making memories, and even continued to work as a team in motel ownership until her passing. Joan was a remarkable woman and will forever be loved and missed dearly by family and friends.A celebration of Joan’s life will begin at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at The Schneider Farm in Williamsville, IL. Signs will be posted to assist with directions. Memorial donations may be made in Joan’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or The Humane Society of Logan County. LINCOLN, IL. - Lois Nadine (Cox) Kratzner, 80, of Lincoln, IL., passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at Lincoln Village.Lois was born on July 12, 1943, in Searcy, Arkansas, the daughter of Lucian A. and Ida Viola (Sargent) Cox. She married Gary Lee Hatfield, and they had 3 children. They later divorced. She later married Gilbert R. Kratzner on June 16th, 2000, in Lincoln, IL. He preceded her in death on December 11, 2012.Lois is survived by her 3 children: Laura Andring, Bryan Hatfield, and Brett Hatfield; her 7 grandchildren: Larissa Berger, Joshua Hatfield, Jason Hatfield, Samantha Andring, Elizabeth Hatfield, Ian Hatfield, and Justin Hatfield, her 4 great grandchildren: Lillian Bing, Noah Andring, Isaac Berger, and Lucas Berger; 1 sister: Marie Henderson, and her 1 brother: Gerald (Jan) Cox. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband: Gilbert, and 11 of her siblings.Lois was a licensed realtor in Lincoln for many years. She enjoyed decorating and keeping her flowers at her home. Most of all she loved spending time with her family.There will be a private family service for Lois at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.

MT. PULASKI, IL - Ruth M. Henrichs, 100, of Mt. Pulaski, IL (formerly of Danforth, IL.), passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at Vonderlieth Living Center.Ruth was born December 28, 1923, in rural Danforth, IL, the daughter of Albert and Elsie (Trepton) Johnson. She was baptized on March 1, 1924, by Pastor Staeling with her parents as sponsors. It was April 10, 1938, when she was confirmed at St. John’s by Pastor Hafermann.Ruth was married to Roy G. Henrichs on August 8, 1945, by Pastor Hafermann. It was rural Danforth where Roy and Ruth farmed and raised their family until Roy’s passing in 1981.Ruth is survived by her daughters, Janet (Larry) Schahl of Mt. Pulaski, and Judy (Larry) Wubben of Riverton; four grandchildren: Jason (Kim) Schahl, Jennifer (Daniel) Ballard, Laura (Dom) Herrig, Steven (Kathleen) Schahl; and four great-grandchildren: Carly, Molly, Norah, and Levi. Ruth was the last of her immediate family.She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roy; son, Ronald Roy Henrichs; her siblings: Edith Depler, Vincent Johnson, Phyllis Tammen, and Doris June Pankey.Ruth was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Danforth. She taught Sunday school, took part in the women’s organization, enjoyed Bible study, and volunteered for the adult literacy (Alive) program. After moving to Mt. Pulaski in 2002, she attended St. John’s Lutheran Church in Mt. Pulaski and later Zion Lutheran Church in Mt. Pulaski. Ruth also taught "rules of the road”, loved music and gardening, and especially enjoyed being with family and friends.Services for Ruth will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, May 24, 2024, at Zion Lutheran Church in Mt. Pulaski. Visitation will take place one hour prior from 9:00 am to 10:00 am also at the church. The burial will follow that afternoon at 3:00 pm on Friday, May 24 at Danforth Cemetery in Danforth, IL where all family and friends are welcome. Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church or School of Mt. Pulaski, St. John’s Lutheran Church in Danforth, or Vonderlieth Living Center of Mt. Pulaski.Arrangements have been entrusted to Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mt. Pulaski.

A celebration of life will be held for Kenny and for Mary Polen May 25, 2024 from 4-6 PM at the American Legion Post 263.Kenny was born October 10, 1935, in Armington, IL., the son of Russell Allen Garriott and Bessie (Troxel) Garriott. He married Mary Martin, they later divorced. Kenny married Jenny Harrison Johnson, she preceded him in death. He later married Linda Osborne Tripplett, she preceded him in death.Kenny was a barber in Lincoln for more than 50 years. He also worked for the Illinois Department of Corrections for more than 20 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 263 and spent most days there with his friends. He enjoyed watching sports and NASCAR, gambling, and a cold Old Milwaukee Light.Survivors include his son Rusty (Alecia) Garriott; grandchildren: Austin Garriott, Nathan Garriott (Chloe), LaDonna Buckles, Anthony Garriott, and James Garriott; He was very excited that Nathan and Chloe are expecting a child. Several other grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive.He was preceded in death by his parents, wives Mary, Jenny, and Linda, sons Anthony Garriott and Ricky Garriott, sister Mary Gosda, and Eugene Garriott.Memorial donations may be made to the family and will be accepted at the funeral home.

LINCOLN, IL - Dorothy Ann Knollenberg, 91, of Lincoln, IL, passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at her home.Dorothy was born July 25, 1932, in Lincoln, the daughter of John and Ann Louise (Kodatt) Starcevic.Dorothy is survived by her sons, Dwayne (Maggie) Knollenberg and Daniel (Audrey) Knollenberg; a daughter, Dee Ann Knollenberg; seven grandchildren, Dustin, David, Douglas, Brandon, and Nicholas Knollenberg, Erica Tomkinson, and Lori Shevlin; six great-grandchildren; and her sister, Barbara Jean Collum.She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Dennis Knollenberg; and sister, Sharon Hodnett.Dorothy graduated from Lincoln High School in 1950. She worked at LDC for 27 years as a dietician. Dorothy was a member of Holy Family Church and a lifetime member of the Oasis Senior Center in Lincoln. Her pride and joy were her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.A private family burial at Holy Cross Cemetery in Lincoln will take place at a later date. Memorials may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church for masses or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Arrangements have been entrusted to Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.
