Slayer task/Kalphites (2024)

Kalphites can be assigned as a Slayer task at level 15 combat by all Slayer masters, with the exception of Wilderness Slayer master Krystilia. Kalphites come in a wide variety of levels, which is why they are possible tasks from all Slayer masters. They can be found in the Kalphite Lair in the northwest Kharidian Desert, as well as in a Slayer task-exclusive area, the Kalphite Cave, just east of Shantay Pass.

Kalphites comes in four varieties: Workers, Soldiers, and Guardians, as well as the boss monster the Kalphite Queen. With the exception of the Queen, all Kalphites use melee attacks. Additionally the Soldiers and Guardians can induce poison starting at 4 and 6 Hitpoints damage respectively.

Both the Kalphite Lair and Cave are Multicombat areas, thus allowing the player to use a dwarf multicannon to significantly improve kill rates. The cannon cannot be setup in the Kalphite Queen's arena, as she will destroy it if one is set up there.

Due to the generic kalphites' poor drops, players should only kill workers or soldiers as part of an assignment. Killing workers with a cannon completes the task extremely quickly, while soldiers provide slightly better experience per task. Guardians should never be killed for the purpose of a task, as they are very sparse and have high stats.

Alternatively, the player can opt to kill the Kalphite Queen, however, this can be very inconsistent without completion of the Desert Hard diary, as every trip will require two ropes per inventory. Even then, travel time is an issue until the completion of the Desert Elite diary, which along with 86 Agility (boostable) allows the player to bypass the long loop around to the Queen's chamber.

When killing Kalphites as part of Konar quo Maten's assignment, if she assigns them in the Kalphite Lair, the best spot to complete the task would be the chamber with five soldiers and use a cannon, as the workers are too far spread apart to consistently cannon them.

Otherwise, tasks of kalphites should be done at the Kalphite Cave, as they provide open chambers with numerous kalphites which significantly speed up completion times.

Keris weapons[edit | edit source]

The Keris is a dagger awarded from completing the Contact! quest. It increases damage against all kalphites by 33% with a 1/51 chance of dealing a hit with tripled damage. However, in general, the Keris is not recommended because of its low stats, despite the Kalphites' fairly low Defence of their own. Other weapons, like a dragon scimitar or abyssal whip, are more accurate and consistent in damage.

With completion of Beneath Cursed Sands, the player will gain access to the keris partisan; compared to the dagger itself, it is more accurate and damaging. While it loses a slash option, it gains a crush option, taking advantage of their weakness to crush attacks. Players who discover a Breach of the scarab (from the Tombs of Amascut raid) can attach it to the partisan to make the Keris partisan of breaching. While this requires 80 Attack in order to wield (compared to the normal partisan's 65 Attack), the breaching partisan provides an additional 33% accuracy against kalphites. This makes it a particularly useful weapon when killing the Kalphite Queen.
